Superhero Room

My sweet little gentlemen have been so patient as I have worked on projects for their room. Really it doesn't look like I did much, but when I break it down maybe you'll see why it took me months to complete...literally. Or maybe you'll decide I'm lazy. Either way, it's done and I'm happy ha!

My little superheros are happy as clams to have their space just the way they wanted it! Here's a break down of the projects that went into this room:

Painting stripes on a feature wall

Making bunk beds from scratch [ the Hubby did this one. Only the base bed is in the room right now until Eli is ready for bunk beds]

Sewing superhero blankets

Creating the superhero art prints

Photographing my boys with their superhero blankets

Painting a shelf and mounting it to the entrance wall for special superhero items

My boys are loving their personal space, and play in their room now -cause it's a cool place to be ha! It brings me joy to see their sweet faces light up with each little detail that has been added.

Oh, and baby girl's nursery is done! Eek can't believe I actually FINISHED that project on time! And Eli's baby book is done! Yep, that's a whole lot of ticks off the 'ol to do list!

Han-or-ama

Summer holds so much magic for me. From an early age, I came to understand that summer time meant being outside, playing foursquare in the cul-de-sac, heart beating out of my chest at the sound of the ice cream truck [I only have one memory of actually purchasing from said truck however haha] hands scratched and covered in sticky juice while enjoying raspberries right off the bush, but mostly soaking up sun alongside the concrete neighbourhood pool. We swam endlessly and tirelessly, loving every moment amidst the din of giggles, laughter, shouts, and conversations.

This past week we embarked on a family vacation, and most of our time was spent in the pool. Eli brought his trunks to us daily, bobbing up and down with excitement before the word 'pool' even crossed our lips. Darius made breakthrough after breakthrough with his swimming, charging through the barriers of fear he had previously established, and plunging into the water! Here is a little recount of the swimming adventures had by my sweet man-o:

"my swimming adventure was awesome! I wish I could be in han-or-ama again! I love papa so much and wish we could swim all day together! My jumps are amazing and awesome! I love my jumps and wish I could do them again! Swimming underwater feels so good! My favourite part about swimming underwater was when I swam across the pool and did dives into the water! I even got $5!! I am an Olympic swimmer and do great Olympic dives!"

Darius was non stop action in the pool, and inspired his brother to blow bubbles, dunk his head, and even jump off the side of the pool! Here's a little photo recap of the swimming adventures in 'han-or-ama' [I love the way he pronounces that haha!] We loved our time with Papa Aquaman and Karen, cousin Ayden, and all the aunts and uncles that were able to steal time away along with us! We love you guys!

Pumpkin Love

Have you carved your pumpkin yet? We FINALLY got around to it last night [delaying the boys snoozing big time!] but seeing as we had promised a certain someone pumpkin carving since Sunday, it was time to make good on that promise. [Does that happen for you? Where you make a promise to your kiddos - or friends - sincerely planning on following through, but time just doesn't allow you to in the time frame promised? It seems to happen a lot more now that there are two little munchkins in our roost!]  I was assigned the pumpkin design work, and the incredible Daddy was given the task of carving. I asked Darius what he wanted the pumpkin to look like and he said,"I want a HAPPY pumpkin!"

Daddy tried to talk him into a scary pumpkin [saying pumpkins aren't suppose to be happy] but Darius just threw back his head and laughed. Happy it is!

Eli enjoyed some green shake for supper while Daddy carved away under Darius' watchful eye. Can you see his cute teeth??? This little monkey has teeth number 5 and 6 coming in right now!

After some careful sketching, de-seeding, and carving, Darius had his happy pumpkin! He was so excited we had to light it up right then! I didn't get a pic of it then, so I had my little man-o pose with his pumpkin this morning.

Darius thinks his pumpkin looks like him, in fact he believes this so much he named his pumpkin "Darius Pumpkin." So cute!

Is your pumpkin carved and ready to greet trick or treaters? Or do you carve last minute? Last minute has its advantages [the pumpkin is less likely to be complete mush on the 31st for one!] but I love the festive look of a carved pumpkin on the porch too much to wait!
