two months...

Wow, it has been almost two months since I was last typing out a post. It's crazy to me how time can slip by, even when you have the best of intentions of keeping current and up to date. To make up for the lack of posting, here's a little round up of what has caught my eye, my appetite, and my time over the past months!

This garland is on the top of my holiday prep list! I love the idea of something simple that conveys such joy - perfect in every way. I have all the supplies downstairs on the crafting table, and just need to find a moment to start...and it won't take two months to get to, cause really I don't have that sort of time left before Christmas!

These bars are A-MA-ZING!! I took a batch to a church function over the weekend and they were some of the first things to go off the treat table. Despite the deliciously sweet taste, the sugar content comes from all natural sources, and they have a hit of fibre - what more could you ask for in a dessert?

While jumping around on Pinterest I found the site the twix bars come from, a snazzy site that you might have heard of before called Oh She Glows. A vegan blog dedicated to healthy vegan recipes, it is a goldmine for all those whom are looking for a little healthy pick me up.If you are searching for a new site to add to your blog reads, or a source of delicious recipes you don't need to feel guilty for making, then this is a must see!

My Mom just finished walking across Spain, over 1000km in five weeks. That sentence in and of itself always makes me pause in amazement! She blogged as she went, and documented the journey with pictures and stories worth checking out. This is one of the things I have been doing instead of blogging myself - but really, I needed to make sure she was still walking, alive, and well.

The workouts I have been rocking have been short and sweet - and oh so effective! I have been seeing gains, despite the 12 minute daily commitment [Monday to Friday] due to the high intensity of the training. Check out Body Rock and enjoy the burn!

I'm off to get the boys and I moving and the crafting begun! Only 50 days till Christmas and I have yet to turn on my sewing machine - eek!

PROJECTS and more projects....

It seems lately that my time is being sucked into a vortex of projects, goals, and make believe games. My life feels whole and sweet, I am far from complaining, I am simply amazed at all that has been on my plate. Here's a little photo run down of some of the projects on the go lately...

party favours for a baby shower. I got the idea here.

A little something for the special girls I visit teach. I found these through pinterest [my totally addictive guilty pleasure of late] on this site.

I have been filling and sewing a bazillion heating bags! These beauts' are part of a bigger project for the Relief Society committee I'm on. To learn more about this AMAZING world wide women's organisation, look here.

And, I completed a top secret project last night, and it will be arriving in the mail in a few weeks! With all this on the go, plus being a Mom, running a household and all the cooking, cleaning, and organising that goes on here, it feels like certain aspects of my 'normal' life have been put on hold. A nagging knee injury has kept me away from my runners for just over a week now, so these projects have been a good distraction - but I'm getting ready to jump back into my routine again. Run, play, blog - let's go!

Reindeer Food

I am so excited for Christmas! Maybe its my personality, maybe its my two little boys with gleaming eyes, or maybe it's the fact that I never stop listening to Christmas music ALL YEAR LONG! Haha, maybe its a combination of the above ha!

I am ticking items off my list as per usual and stumbled upon these adorable tags: http://tomkatstudio.blogspot.com/2010/12/free-printables-reindeer-food-tags.html

Seriously so cute! I just printed mine off so I could get a little crafting done for the holidays!

Whats on your Christmas Craft list?

Busy, Busy

Wow, I've got so many projects, recipes, and work outs on the go right now I don't know where to start [or finish!] So, while I work on completing all my mini-masterpieces, here's some photo teasers of what's to come!

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

{Happy Father's Day!}

Have you planned any little treats for the most special men in your (or your children's) life? Well, Darius and I have been discussing this very special day, and talking about what he wanted to make for his amazing Daddy and his two wonderful Papa's. We did a trial run on one of the ideas, and I have to say, it is a smashing success! What's not to like about a savory, crunchy treat, all wrapped up in a pretty I mean handsome package?

You'll need:

canning jars with lids
scrapbook paper
computer and printer for the labels
scissors
glue
ribbon
a little artist with their crayons
and a yummy treat!

Here's what we're making:

You can put anything inside of this cute little jar, but if you want to put in this yummy, delicious, "I want to eat it all day!" treat, stay tuned for the recipe!

Start with the labels. I printed out three phrases," I'm CRAZY about you - Happy Father's Day!", "You're one 'Top Pop' - Happy Father's Day!", and "I love you! Happy Father's Day" Guess which one Darius came up with*??

Once the labels have been printed, hand them over to your little artist(s) for decoration. Once they're all beautified, cut them out.

Now take those wonderful jars, wrapped in decorative paper (I glued my paper on the jar before pasting the label on the paper. It's up to you, but I find it easier to center the label once the paper is already secured on the jar.) and glue on your decorated labels.

Use the canning lid as a guide, and trace around it to get a perfect circle of patterned paper for the top. Cut this out and glue it on the top side of the lid, so it will be visible when secured to the top.

Now fill those jars with your treat! Anything will do really, from mini chocolate bars, to trail mix, to this delicious popcorn concoction that Darius and I made! (I'll be posting the recipe tomorrow!)

And lastly, secure the lids, tie with a ribbon, and voila! You've got yourself a handy-dandy Father's Day treat!

* Darius' phrase for the labels is " I'm CRAZY about you - Happy Father's Day!"
